Tough question.. Asked by Justea:
"What makes a tomboy?"

This is mostly a text-based response from me. The basic definition you can find on the internet is "A girl who enjoys rough, noisy activities traditionally associated with boys."
But it's a lot more complicated than that, and I don't think I can cover all the specific points.

When it comes down to it, the definition is subjective to the double standards of an individual. If you think only boys can do a certain activity, than you would consider any girl who did the same to be a tomboy. If you think that not closing your legs while sitting (hopefully in pants) is as acceptable for girls as it is for boys, then it's up to you whether you call yourself a tomboy or not, though someone with a different opinion would still label you as such.

There's not really a universal standard for who can be labeled as a tomboy (or any label for that matter), but I know that despite whatever you declare yourself to be, there will always be people who disagree.

So..I'm not sure if that cleared anything up at all. :/
Personally, I find it all depends on the person. There are different degrees of "tomboyish" behavior, so it's not like you have a limit to how dude-like you can be.
I am so bad at this....sorry if I just messed up completely.

On a similar note, classes start up next Monday for me. Calc at 8AM. Whoot whoot.

So it all boils down to you feel comfortable doing, eh? Whether it's in a skirt or in some pants.

The more you know. -star-

That said... I've always been a sucker for tomboys.

Thanks for answering my ask! :) haha, I guess it did cleared some things. I think you explained it pretty good, so no sweat! Again, thanks :)

Oh and, the actual problem was that I said I was pretty tomboy-ish but she thought tomboys don't sit with their legs open, unlike me,haha ( yes in pants and also in big long skirts). So in her opinion, I'm not a tomboy because I do that? Haha pretty reversed from your mom.

Replies @ApaFox: More or less, yeah. I'm far from an expert in labels and such, so that's just my personal opinion, which could be entirely wrong.

@Revived: Alas, I am married to my commitment issues. XD

@Justea: No problem! And sorry, I misundestood; I was under the impression that the sitting style was an example instead of a specific question. Though my answer would still be the same: it's a matter of preference rather than qualification. Though I would think that sitting with your legs open would be more tomboy-ish than closed seeing as how most girls are encouraged to act more lady-like.

@D-KeyNote: haha yea I thought so too, but apparently my mom thinks tomboys don't do that . Thanks anyway :)
